Woodland Heights Wrestling is Randy Marion Team of the Season

team of the season

The Woodland Heights Middle School wrestling team’s selection as the Randy Marion Team of the Season is a testament to a program that has redefined excellence and doubled in size in just two short years. Under the guidance of dedicated Coach Mitchell and Coach Jeffries, the Braves transformed into an undefeated 12-0 powerhouse that dominated the mats with a relentless offensive style, averaging a staggering 79.3 points per match. This record-breaking season culminated in the school’s first-ever district title, where the team’s depth was on full display: 14 out of 18 starters reached the podium, including nine gold medalists and 12 finalists. The sheer scale of their victory was historic, as they secured first place at the championship tournament with 295.5 points—gapping the runner-up by a massive 136-point margin. More than just statistics, this honor recognizes a group of athletes who braved injuries, illness, and weather delays to prove that hard work and resilience can build a championship legacy from the ground up.
